Thomas Mason (b. 1990) is a ceramic artist whose practice sits at the intersection of sculpture and function. His work foregrounds material processes, with a focus on the transformative potential of clay, its weight, resistance, and responsiveness. Engaging with the physical limits of the medium, Mason explores the physics of making: pressure, suspension, release. Each piece becomes a record of decision and force, movement held in stillness. His practice draws from natural phenomena, embodied movement, and industrial processes, creating vessels and objects that occupy a space between artefact and gesture.
Mason holds a Master of Fine Art (Research) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours Class 1) from UNSW Art & Design. His work has been exhibited across Australia, including solo exhibitions at KUDOS Gallery, GAFFA Gallery, and The Walls (Gold Coast), and featured in national showcases such as the International Ceramics Triennale.
